What is Proofreading?
Proofreading or sometimes called copyedit is the action in re-read the written works to check whether there is an error in the text or not. The errors are including punctuation error, spelling, consistency in using names or terms, until word-division in the text.
Sometimes, many people thought that proofread and editing is kind of same aspect, but actually both of them are different. Both of editing and proofreading are focused on linguistic aspects, but proofreading also need to focus on the context or substance of the text. So besides checking about the errors in linguistic aspect, proofread also checking the logical aspect of the article, whether it makes sense or not.
Why we should to proofread our text?
If you want to publish your written work in large audience, well, proofreading is one of writing step that you shouldn’t miss. Professional proofreader will help you to correct all the errors in your text. Sometimes the writer had some difficulties in finding the errors in their text, because they might feel that their work is absolutely correct and ready to publish.
Here, the proofreaders are doing their work, proofreader should be neutral. Certainly, proofreader had many experiences and knowledge wider than the writer itself that make them become more objective in evaluating the text. They will posit their self as a "reader" and judge whether the writing is understandable or even complicated. hopefully, the written works are understandable for readers after being proofreading by professional proofreaders.
